Sentinel article turns spotlight skyward, imagining development’s proposed height

The cherry picker, raised to a height that mimics the height of the proposed development, illustrated how this proposal would overwhelm an entire area of our city.

An article in the Santa Cruz Sentinel on Friday (February 26, 2021) described efforts that members of our 831 Responsible Development group made a day earlier to visualize the impact of the nearly 60-foot-tall twin buildings that would exist if the development proposal — as currently planned — is approved for 831 Water Street. To get a sense of the out-of-scale height of such a project, the 831 Responsible Development group brought a “cherry-picker” crane to property adjoining the site.
